Hurstville railway station opened in 1884 and was historically the terminus of the Illawarra line, and the town centre grew up around it. A lot of what got built nearby afterwards shares a similar pattern: two and three storey brick walk-up blocks, no lift, units stacked around a shared stairwell. Many date from the interwar and postwar era, and that history still shapes the plumbing behind the walls today.
Four things that come up regularly in this suburb.
Emergency callouts are still available (see our Emergency Plumber page), but most of our Hurstville work is scheduled maintenance, not a rushed fix.
Hot and cold water, and often the waste stack for every unit, run through a shared riser hidden in a narrow service duct rather than under one roof. A blockage on the ground floor can start on the third. We trace faults back through the riser and coordinate access with owners or the strata manager, without opening up walls that don’t need opening, as part of our strata plumbing services.
Cafes, restaurants and retail tenancies near Westfield Hurstville each have their own hot water and drainage demands, often decades old and built for lighter use than they carry now. We work with tenancy managers as well as business owners on keeping them running.
Most plumbing problems are cheaper to catch early than to fix once they’ve become an emergency. We offer routine servicing for hot water systems, drains and gas fitting, so small issues get caught before they turn into bigger repairs.
Some jobs carry a call-out fee, but we always talk you through the cost before we start, so nothing about the bill is a surprise.
