Hot water cutting out, running cold, or making noise?

If your hot water has cut out altogether, keeps running cold halfway through a shower, or the tank is making a knocking or popping sound, it’s worth getting checked before it causes a bigger fault. That knocking sound is usually sediment settling on the bottom of the tank.

Not every fault needs a new unit. We’ll tell you honestly whether a repair will hold or whether the tank’s age and condition mean replacing it is the better spend. We won’t sell you a repair on a tank that’s about to fail again anyway.

Hot water repairs Sydney

What we check, depending on your system.

Electric systems

We check the thermostat and heating element first. A tripped safety switch or a dead element is the most common reason a unit stops heating.

Gas systems

We check the pilot light, thermocouple and gas valve. A pilot that won’t stay lit usually means a worn thermocouple rather than anything more serious.

Leaks and valves

We check the pressure relief valve and the anode, since a failing valve is the usual cause of water leaking from the base of the tank.

Hot water system installation Sydney

We’ll talk you through which system suits your household before we quote. Installation covers removing and disposing of the old unit, positioning the new one to meet clearance and ventilation requirements, connecting the water supply and, for gas units, the gas line, then testing and commissioning the system before we hand it back to you.

Sizing matters more than people expect. A unit that’s too small for the household runs out of hot water at the worst moment. One that’s oversized just costs more to run than it needs to. We size the new system to your household, not to whatever tank happens to already be sitting there.

1

Electric storage

Heats and holds a full tank
ready to go.

2

Gas storage

Heats and holds a full tank ready to go, running on gas instead of electricity.

3

Continuous flow

Sometimes called instantaneous, it heats water as it passes through the unit, so there's no tank and no wait to reheat after a big draw like back-to-back showers.

Transparent pricing on every hot water job

We believe in transparent pricing on hot water jobs, same as everything else we do. A call-out fee may apply depending on the job, but we always talk you through the cost before we start any repair or installation, so there are no surprises on the invoice afterwards.

Areas we cover

We install and repair hot water systems across Sydney, including Sutherland Shire, the Bayside area, Hurstville and Georges River.

If a gas hot water fault turns out to be in the gas line or regulator rather than the unit itself, our Gas Fitting team can take care of that on the same visit.

If you’re not sure whether your suburb is in our coverage area, give us a call and we’ll let you know.

Frequently asked questions

It depends on the fault and the age of the unit. A dead element, a pilot light that won't stay lit, or a faulty valve is usually a straightforward repair. Heavy rust, a tank that's corroded through, or a unit near the end of its working life is usually better off replaced. We'll check it and give you an honest recommendation either way.

It depends on the type of system, the size your household needs, and whether it's a straight swap or a new installation in a different spot. We quote the job once we've seen what's involved, so you know the cost before any work starts.

Yes. We install electric and gas continuous flow systems as well as traditional storage tanks, and we'll help you work out which one fits your household and your existing gas or electricity setup.
